The Garden House – Conversational Sketching

George-1-11-webszNupastel set of 62 is easy to carry around and pull out when conversations are seated. Made by Prismacolor, I have enjoyed their easy drawing friction on a laid charcoal paper. Rummaging through my garage during the recent holiday season, I found old papers still good for use. After 10 years of non-air conditioned storage, the paper’s rag content proves its purchase worth.

Natural patio light brings out the warm colors in George’s shadows.

Conversational sketching is my favorite art motif. I love catching living action in color. Some people like to smoke cigarettes. I do not. But like an ADHD person, I must have something in my hands to do. I’m an addict of color and movement.

What I zero in on are the eyes. In George’s case, he’s got the intense gaze of a man who knows himself and isn’t afraid to look another person dead square in the eyes. This is his relaxed pose.

  1. I am happy that you started this blog. I am in the process of re-making my sites too. I am planning on video-recording while painting. It should be fun. Miss you, my friend. Would love to go plain air with you.
